As much as I enjoy reading William Safire's weekly language column in the New York Times Magazine (OK, I actually have issues with him, but that's another post), it's nice to read different voices when he's on vacation.
Patricia O'Conner and Steward Kellerman's column this week, "All-Purpose Pronoun," was especially enlightening. Check it out and let me know what you think of "they" as the all-purpose pronoun.
